"Unless you're sponsored by a deodorant company, put your right arm down, push into your left knee and pull with your left arm and that will help you not do what you're doing. It creates lateral pull when you push with your right arm towards your left, inside of your left knee for my regular footers and then pull with your left arm. That's how we kind of connect your left ankle all the way up to your left hand, and that activates your whole lateral pull. I'm kind of giving everyone my secrets."

“These are Timmy Patterson's words, let's just call 'em weak wave boards. Don't look at those boards as low performance boards. Because if you looked at a board and you're like, yeah, this is a real low performance surfboard I don't want it. And if this category of board design is constantly filled, embraced, and endorsed by people that aren't surfing well, then we're just helping them surf badly and nobody's challenging them to do high performance surfing. And I don't mean competitive surfing, I just mean I see people throw in a section and you're like, you could surf better than that.
You just haven't tried or you're not consistently trying to surf better. And it gets back to the point it's like, well, why? Well, it feels amazing. And if we go to the beach to leave with these feelings of amazing within ourselves, call it, stoke it so you can return back to where you came from with a balanced attitude mindset.”
- Donald Brink
“I think a big reason for the success of Kelly's competitive career, he loves surfing more than anyone I've ever met. So for him, he might look at it as an observation. One of the things that he was taught early on, was how to triangulate yourself in a lineup. So you have your key lineups based on swell direction, size, tide, wind, et cetera. It's another form of competition to see who can make themselves have the best lineup. And if you have the best lineup, then you're in the best position for the best.”
- Todd Glaser
“This is the most frustrating part. My brain is like, the peak is there and I see these guys just getting so drained, but I can't get to the peak. I'm just paddling, paddling, paddling. I got washed in, I was sitting on the beach and I was about to throw up. This is so embarrassing to admit at the time I was like, I don't think I can make it out again.
I remember going back and just feeling like I just can't surf swells anymore. And at one point, I sold all my gear and all my boards. I was like, forget it. What's the point, then you explained to me that you had the Basis trainer. And I was like, what are you talking about? So I started training. I remember, I was dead the first day. I remember training twice a week. I also felt so much confidence. So I was like, I'm going to go to the North Shore. I remember showing up, it's like overhead. I remember the first wave and just getting in so early. And I just remember being so stoked almost like I got freaking a pipe tube but it was just a regular wave. I got so many good waves and I felt like, wow, this is it. I just need to stay in paddle shape and it's not that hard.”

Struggle with paddle power?
I've gone months without surfing and rolled up to pumping swell and surfed 3 hr sessions, multiple times a day, day after day after day, by using the Basis Paddle Trainer.
Train anytime, anywhere, so you can catch more waves and have more fun.
