The Best Way to Carry Your Wet Wetsuit

A Better Way to Pack Up After a Surf
After a session, the last thing I want to deal with is a soggy wetsuit dripping all over my car or apartment floor. I’ve tried a few options over the years, and this setup is by far the cleanest and most reliable way I’ve found to carry wet gear.

The Bag I Use
I use a waterproof roll-top dry bag. It’s the same kind of bag whitewater rafters and kayakers use to keep gear dry when they’re in fast-moving water. The roll-top seal locks in moisture and doesn’t leak—even if the bag tips over or gets tossed around in the back of the car.

After I change out of my wetsuit, I throw it straight into the dry bag—along with any other wet gear like boots or gloves—roll it up tight, and seal it. I can drop it into a larger duffel that also holds my other post-surf gear: changing robe, fins, water, snacks, etc.

Why It Works
This setup makes it easy to carry everything in one go. No need to keep wet and dry gear separate or worry about leaks. The dry bag keeps moisture sealed in, and I can throw it into my duffel without thinking twice. I can carry it all on my back, walk into the house, and not track water or sand all over the place.

Compare that to some of the open-top wetsuit buckets or mesh bags, which you have to keep upright, handle carefully, and usually stash in the trunk by themselves to avoid leaks. With this dry bag, you don’t have to worry about any of that.

One Note
Just a heads up—this bag doesn’t double as a changing mat. So if you need a place to stand while changing out of your wetsuit, you’ll want a separate mat or towel for that. But in terms of carrying and sealing your gear, it gets the job done.

If you’re looking for a simple, no-leak way to pack your wetsuit, this is the bag I recommend. I’ll drop the link below.
